Consumer guarantees (Australia)

Under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), services supplied to consumers ordinarily come with statutory consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded where it would be unfair or unlawful to do so. This page is a plain-language summary only—it is not legal advice.

Services and guarantees

When you purchase a pass or casual attendance, Australian Consumer Law (ACL) consumer guarantees may include that services are supplied with acceptable care and skill, are fit for any stated purpose, and are supplied within a reasonable time when no time is agreed. If a guarantee is not met, you may have rights to a remedy such as a resupply of the service or a partial refund, depending on whether the failure is major or minor within the meaning of the ACL.
